The C4E – Crowd for the Environment project aims at developing an innovative framework for the detection and monitoring of illegal spills, such as illegal landfills, micro-dumps or illegal releases in surface waters, and the organization of subsequent monitoring actions on site. The processes developed must be able to make more efficient and effective the action of the organizations responsible for environmental and territorial protection, using information acquired from heterogeneous monitoring systems (e.g. alerts on social media) and processed by computer systems operating at a high level of automation through the application of NLP techniques. The project is funded under the programme PON “Ricerca e Innovazione” 2014/2020 – Smart, Secure and Inclusive Communities
