Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology (XAUAT) is located in the famous historical and cultural city of Xi’an. The university covers an area of 3,100,000 m2, including a construction area of 900,000 m2.

The origin of XAUAT dates back to 1895 when Tianjin Beiyang School of Western Learning (Beiyang University) was first established. Later, the university restructured and renamed a few times. In 1994, approved by the Ministry of Education, the school adopted its present name, Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology. It is now widely recognized as one of China's most influential universities in the field of civil engineering and architecture.

At present, the university has 16 schools and departments offering 56 undergraduate programs to students in China. Civil engineering and architecture are as its characteristic specialties, engineering as the major discipline, and others such as liberal arts, sciences, economics, management, art and law.   

There are three Department: architecture, urban planning, and landscape in the College of Architecture.

In the Department of Landscape, landscape architecture is authorized to grant bachelor’s, master's and doctoral degrees and has mobile stations for the post-doctorate academics.
