University of Naples "Federico II"

It is one of the oldest universities to be founded by a head of State while other educational institutions by and large were a product of corporate initiatives. Although new universities have been established in southern Italy and in the Campania region, student enrollment in Naples increased steadily in the seventies and the early eighties to over 100,000 students, making the University of Naples one of the largest in the country. Nowadays the university is made up of four schools, twenty-six departments, an academic staff of more than 3,000 individuals and an administrative staff of more than 4,500. The university accepts the challenge of training competent, open-minded professionals, aware of the rapidly changing needs of a collective human society, for we are all but convinced that knowledge is the most rewarding achievement for mankind.

L.U.P.T. “Raffaele d’Ambrosio” is an Interdepartmental Research Centre of the Federico II University. It gathers more than 100 professors and researchers in humanities and STEM disciplines, as well as 14 members of the technical and administrative staff and some research fellows and consultants.

LUPT has a 20-year expertise in project management thanks to the successful leadership and partnering of EU and national funded programmes and represents an excellence Centre for creating high quality skills. Furthermore, it has developed a solid experience in working with SMEs.

LUPT financial resources mainly come from grants and research contracts assigned by EU national and regional research programmes and from research consultancies for industry and public bodies. UNINA-LUPT carries out a relevant number of key activities, such as: scientific publications, training, accreditation, research and dissemination, international collaboration and consulting activities. LUPT project effectiveness is assured by a well-established institutional network, being LUPT scientific consultant of many public administrations and private companies since 1985. UNINA-LUPT hosts the Europe Direct Information Centre for Naples, Avellino, Benevento and Salerno areas. It performs communication and dissemination activities, public relations, territorial networking and territorial animation about EU topics, with the aim to increase awareness about European citizenship and EU policies.
